The CNY Latino newspaper is printed in large format (tabloid) to provided plenty room for plenty reading material of any type, presenting the articles and advertisement in both “English” and “Spanish”, making this “bilingual” publication welcoming to both the “Spanish” and “non-Spanish” reader, and covering more that just the Latino market.

The CNY Latino Newspaper is been produced and distributed in Syracuse, New York. During the first six months, this minority oriented periodical was Carefully distributed throughout a concentrated consumer zone in the Syracuse metropolitan area, with approximately 5,000 edition copies distributed in combinations of bulk format, Newsstands sales points, and direct mail delivery (see “Circulation” section for more details)..

By October 2004, we expanded the quantity of production and the geographical coverage, to an area ratio of around 50 miles surrounding the city of Syracuse, fully covering Onondaga county and portions of Cayuga, Oswego, and Madison counties. Our goals was within 18 months of first edition, to cover the main urban areas between Rochester & Albany, and between Watertown & Binghamton.

Now we have a current distribution of other growing metropolitan areas, covering major cities like Auburn, Cortland, Binghamton, Ithaca, and the Rome-Utica area. This recent expansion has been possible thanks to the demand and contribution of Colleges, schools, and Educational institutions that these cities have, with increasing enrollment of Hispanic students.

In March 2010, we started to cover the large condensed metropolitan area of Rochester, expanding to what many consider, the last west-end of central New York; we are making plans to include soon, the city of Albany, completing both ends of this defined area, and we are also planning to provide our publication in Watertown and, fulfilling our goal to cover the quadrant between Rochester and Albany, and Watertown and Binghamton. If this existent demand continues, and the trend of readership and commercial interest maintains its pace, we won’t be surprised to cover the entire New York State by the end of this decade.

The CNY Latino is been produced and distributed in Syracuse, New York. During the first six or eight months, this minority oriented periodical was carefully distributed throughout a concentrated consumer zone in the Syracuse metropolitan area, with approximately 5000 edition copies distributed in combinations of bulk format, Newsstands sales points, and direct mail delivery (see “Circulation” section for more details). By June 2004 we expanded the quantity of production to 6,000 copies, and the geographical coverage to an area ratio of around 50 miles surrounding the city of Syracuse, fully covering Onondaga county and portions of Cayuga, Oswego, and Madison counties. Our goals are within 18 months of first edition, to cover the main urban areas between Rochester and Albany, and between Watertown and Binghamton.

We are also planning to strategically place sales points and distribution spots in selected locations, so CNY Latino can be found in public concentric places, like popular bars and restaurants, malls and shopping centers, supermarkets and grocery stores, bus and taxi stops, terminals and airports, etc. with the intention of propelling the business part of our Latino community, target the student level, and connect with our local government. We are also planning to distribute our publication, in selected Business organizations (Chambers of Commerce, User Groups, Rotary clubs, etc.), educational organizations (Syracuse University, Onondaga Community College, Cazenovia College, LeMoyne College, etc.) and some Governmental agencies (Small Business Administration, Mayor’s Office, City and County agencies, Governamental offices, including State representatives and Legislators, Immigration departments and Law Enforcement headquarters, Department of Labor branches and Job Placement Agencies, Churches and non-for-profit organizations, Hospitals and Clinics, etc.

In addition, we will use direct mail distribution to selected subscribers. This mailing list will be developed from a directory of Hispanic organizations (local and state) and individuals linked to the (local and state) Latino community. We have already started this list, where interested parties and known associates have expressed an interest in receiving this publication directly. This list will evolve and include anyone who wishes to have editions of this periodical directly delivered to their homes and/or offices, under an affordable annual subscription, to cover postal fees.

Finally, distribution of CNY Latino will be complimented by and improved with the online promotion of its website, where not only subscription and mailing list registration are currently provided, but also, content from the hardcopy editions will be digitally published online soon. This web presence will promote both national and international recognition and possible hard copy distribution.

We started in February 2004 with 5,000 editions, increasing production in June to 6,000, 500 extra in July (for the NY State Fair), and close to 8,000 in September and October, to respond to the advertisement demand for the “Presidential elections”. All this recent demand has forced us to consider increase our production soon to possibly 10,000 editions for the mid 2005 year.

As the popularity of and demand for this publication increases, our plans are to expand circulation coverage from the initial Syracuse metropolitan area to reach a 50 mile radius of Syracuse, fully covering Onondaga county and portions of Cayuga, Oswego, and Madison counties. Our goals are within 18 months to cover the main urban areas between Rochester and Albany, and between Watertown and Binghamton.

In addition to our initial circulation plans, we have developed an expansion network with local organizations (The Spanish Action League, Syracuse University, The Syracuse New Times, Syracuse Chamber of Commerce, Business-to-Business Network Group, etc.). It is our hope that by connecting with local organizations, we will reach a larger consumer-base that represents the diversity within the Central New York community.

One of the most important statistical parameters that CNY Latino will use for all the functions and purpose this publication is suppose to offer to the reading audience, is Demographics indicators directly related to the Latino and Hispanic population. This information which constantly changes (improving) shows the advanced strength and influence this ethnic group is making in the country, and more particularly in the state of New York.

Latinos are a culturally, demographically, and geographically diverse population. According to the 1999 census, persons of Mexican origin form the largest Latino population group in the United States, numbering more than 13 million persons, followed by Puerto Ricans, who number close to 3 million, and Cuban-Americans, numbering slightly more than 1 million. In 1990, more than half of Latinos (64.2 percent) were native-born Americans and nearly three-quarters were either native-born or naturalized citizens.

Latinos live in all 50 States and the District of Columbia, but they are more concentrated in certain areas. In 1990, nearly 9 out of 10 Latinos lived in just 10 States, that number has considerably increased by now. The four with the largest proportion of Latino residents were California, Florida, New York, and Texas. Other States with significant Latino populations were Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New Mexico. According to Current Population Survey data, more than half of Latinos are concentrated in two States–California and Texas, the next largest percentage is in New York state. Within New York, Onondaga county is 14th in largest amount of Hispanic population (only 6th if we exclude all the counties in New York City).

ADVERTISING SERVICES

The CNY Latino Marketing and Advertising Services are focused with the Hispanic market and the Latino population as the based of these services. Our Expertise in the two branches of this industry, and wide knowledge with this ethnic group, allows us not only to effectively prepare a good campaign for any product and/or service, but also to directly promote and expose this product and/or service, the proper way in a politically correct manner.

CNY Latino knows what to advertise and how to market it; we measure the level of value and demand, and know how to market it with the most appropriate media outlet, under the most effective method, and for the most targeted consumer. Not only we analyze if any material or content should and/or need to be translated, but we also evaluate the actual content and narrative of all of them, to make sure that the message is not only properly delivered, but also clearly and adequately expressed.

Similarly to what we do with our Marketing Services, our customized Marketing plans are prepared in 3 different approaches:

1.- We receive and accept the client’s idea and approach to advertise.
2.- We create and design our idea and approach to advertise for the client
3.- We work out with the client the best and most effective way to advertise (usually requires a Marketing analysis).

In each one of these approaches, we work with our clients keeping in mind their needs, measuring to protect their budget, and always considering the cultural value they are getting into.

The most common way to advertise in newspapers (and probably the most affordable), is with the use of Display Ads. Here, the advertiser has the flexibility to place both a visual and contextual message, in different sizes, and different locations throughout the edition. Color is also available in selected sections of the paper (back cover, and centerfolds).

For us, the largest (almost unique) source of income for the CNY Latino newspaper is the sales made in Display Ads. The support of our advertisers and sponsors made this FREE-of-charge publication a reality in the Central New York area, and we appreciate their business very much.

OUR ADS CAN BE BILINGUAL, AT NO EXTRA COST..! We are capable to provide with an array of flexible options, under several sizes, and different prices to advertise in the CNY Latino newspaper. You can choose the best time-contract for you, and even the location in the edition. For an individual analysis, and “customized” quote, please give us a call, and we’ll explain what will be the best approach for you and your organization to promote your product and/or service.

REMEMBER that advertisement in our newspaper can be presented in three (3) different formats:

  • DISPLAY ADS
  • CLASSIFIEDS
  • INSERTS

Although typically used for job opportunities, housing sales/rent, and small announcements, this is the most affordable but still effective print advertisement alternative in our monthly “bilingual” publication. Our Classifieds are bigger and more visible than the traditional small-printed words-only labels that are cramped and lost in a crowded page of nothing but small letters all around. Similar to the Display Ads, prices to place classifieds will also depend on the size and the frequency desired to appear in the newspaper… there is not classifieds in color for our monthly “bilingual” newspaper.

This is one of the most high-impact more emphasis deliverable print promotional tool, that consists of a complete separate piece of paper that is inserted inside the physical edition of the newspaper. This method gives the reader an opportunity to use this advertising alternative, with an individual function to whatever it is promoted in it. This is usually done not only for advertisement that needs more impact and/or a distinctive larger presentation, but also for the possible desire to have the message separated from the paper, to maybe be placed in a separate mean (pinned on a refrigerator, cut-out as a coupon or printed proof, form to filled-out and mailed, etc.). Special conditions and dedicated specifications need to be considered, for ordering of this type of advertisement, and prices will vary depending on amount and frequency ordered.
